BERNGARD, Oleg (1909 - 2000)
Born in Munich, Germany in 1909. Studied at the Ekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk) Art School 1922-24. Began exhibiting in 1928. He is a Member of the AKHR/R since 1927. Important shows include 'Soviet Russia', Moscow 1960. Specialised in landscapes. Taught at the Urals College of Applied Art in Nizhni-Tagil 1947-56. Important shows included the All Union Exhibition in Moscow in 1962 and 1963. Specialised in genre paintings and landscapes. He was active in Ekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk). Member of the Union of the Artists. Honoured Artist of Russia. His paintings were widely exhibited and acquired by the museums of his native country and abroad. Many of his works are in private collections in the USA, Great Britain, France and Japan.
